Cortijo Grande
2920 metres - Par 35

The valley of Cortijo Grande, flanked by mountains that rise to almost 1,000m above sea level, is an ancient oasis in the traditionally arid region of Almeria. In the heart of a province claiming the only desert in Europe, El Cortijo Grande has become deservedly famous for its verdant landscape and profuse vegetation.
Here the surrounding desert gives way to the lushness of the golf course, while almond, olive, orange and carob trees flourish on fertile terraces. Spring melts of the Sierra Nevada on the western horizon and local springs and wells in the limestone strata supply our private natural water sources.
The current 9-hole (18 tee) golf course with its majestic backdrop of orange groves, almond, fig and olive trees is truly breathtaking. Watered from an underground volcanic lake, the valley has been an agricultural paradise for several centuries.
Grupo Colt have invited a world-renowned team of golf professionals to design and renovate the existing course back to 18 holes. This forms the first phase of development and 9 holes will remain open throughout.
A new Club House offering spectacular views of the fairways and the Cabrera Mountains, will be constructed to the highest standard, offering a range of changing facilities, a pro shop and a bag drop area. It will also house a restaurant and refreshments can be enjoyed on either of the club's sun-drenched terraces offering an elevated view of the course.
Cortijo Grande lies 3 kms from the Mediterranean motorway (A-92) with easy access to Turre from exit 520. Take the 520 exit off the N-340 motorway marked Turre/Mojacar and follow the winding road past sloping fields of mint and orange trees, over two small stone bridges spanning the river gorge. You will soon see the valley entrance on the right and Sierra Cabrera mountains beyond.
