Gambito Golf Played the opening 2007 event in Valle Del Este:

The first tournament of the “Gambito Tour” was played last weekend on the lovely course of Valle del Este in Almeria. More than 120 players took part in this event and again the lively and immaculate greens of Valle del Este made the players feel like they were in a Tour competition.

The new Gambito Tour and it’s sponsor arrived at the course on Friday the 2nd and Saturday the 3rd March. Three categories for men and two for the ladies, best approach in all the par three’s and two longest drives were the prizes.

A good level of players from the Alicante and Murcia regions took part in the event but the third category winner, eight year old Alfredo Caparros who is taught at Valle del Este Golf School was especially impressed. He played with a reduced handicap of 26 (exact hcp of 35) made 4 under par with his reduced handicap and 14 under his exact. Now his handicap is reduced to 23 we should keep his name in mind for the future should he continue at this rate of progression and with such a natural swing.

After the prize presentation all the staff from Gambito recounted all the players to take part in the remainder of the tournaments to try to qualify for the Spanish final.
